African Democratic Congress [ADC] Faction Dissolves David Mark‑led NWC, adopts Dumebi Kachikwu as Presidential Candidate

A faction of the African Democratic Congress has dissolved the David Mark‑led national working committee and formally adopted Dumebi Kachikwu as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election.

The decision was taken at a national convention and presidential primary in Abuja, where delegates endorsed Kachikwu through a voice vote. The group also constituted new national officers, including Abdulkadir Bashir as national chairman. Kachikwu described Nigeria as being at a “critical crossroads” and positioned the ADC as a credible alternative.

Key Points:

The factional split deepens the ADC’s internal crisis, potentially weakening the party’s electoral chances.
Kachikwu’s adoption through a voice vote (rather than a secret ballot) may raise transparency questions.
The dissolution of David Mark’s leadership signals a power struggle within the party ahead of 2027.
Kachikwu’s message on middle‑class exodus taps into growing frustration with economic conditions.
A divided ADC could struggle to present a unified opposition against the ruling APC.
