Ogun Man Arrested for Faking bandit attack video to gain TikTok Followers

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man, Qowiy Oloyede, for allegedly creating and sharing a misleading TikTok video falsely claiming bandits had invaded the Atan Ota community.

The suspect confessed to fabricating the video to gain followers and trend online. He admitted that a herder featured in the clip initially refused to participate before agreeing. The police recovered photographic and video evidence. The suspect is expected to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

Key Points:

Fake security alerts can cause unnecessary panic and divert police resources from real threats.
Fabricating bandit attacks for social media clout risks legal consequences, including criminal charges.
The suspect’s inability to read or write raises questions about exploitation or ignorance of the law.
This case may deter others from creating false security content for online popularity.
Authorities are urging the public to verify information before sharing to prevent public disorder.

Watch for the outcome of the investigation and whether the suspect faces prosecution, which could serve as a deterrent to others seeking online fame through false alarm videos.
